Brodnica, Dolsk, Książ Wlkp. and Śrem are four communes that make up Śrem administrative district.
The district is situated in the central part of Wielkopolska region and the distance between Poznań-its capital, and Śrem is 42 km. The proximity to Poznań helps its all-round development. About 60 thousand inhabitants live on 575 km2 .
Śrem district is a very picturesque area full of various rare flora and fauna species. A considerable part of it is situated in protective zones , for example- flower reserve Miranowo and the area carnation reserve in Grzybno, landscape reserve Krajkowo, Gen. D. Chłapowski scenery park, the scenery parks in Rogalin and Łęgi Mechlińskie. The highest hill of frontal moreins – Dolsk Hills are 149 meters above sea level. The north part of the administrative district is quite flat with the wide valley of the Warta river.
Apart from nature monuments Śrem district has also many architectural monuments.
Śrem administrative district has been cooperating with Słubice administrative district since 2007, what is more communes have also got relations with partner towns in Germany and the Czech Republic.
